In early 2012 international lingerie brand What Katie Did asked me to re-design their website. It was a delightful job, as they already had a trusty web technician to handle the less fun technical side of building the site, and Katie wanted a dedicated designer to handle the aesthetics of the re-vamp. She asked for a sleek black background, but with decorative elements suggesting an art deco feel… I created a deco motif vector illustration (a re-working of an image already used in the old site) which I incorporated into the various page menus, and chose type faces with an old fashioned feel but which were still web safe. I kept the decorations monochrome so as to keep the overall look subtle and minimal, but still with a retro twist.
